ENTERTAINING SPACES

This landscape successfully creates a multi-functional space that balances Japanese principles of harmony with modern aesthetics and practical features for active family living.

An expansive lawn provides room for children and pets to play, surrounded by purple and white plantings including lavender, salvia, and white hydrangeas. Ornamental grasses add texture and movement throughout the landscape.

There are outdoor rooms for sitting with guests around fire pit, snuggling up with a good book, or cooking and eating with a group of friends.

One detail they really wanted to incorporate was a Japanese-style wraparound deck, known as an engawa. From this deck they can comfortably observe and interact with the garden.
